A brief intro seems in order. Like they taught me in school. Three paragraphs: Introduce what you are going to say, Say It, Summarize.
Consider this The Introduction.
The Saying It will be the Blog.
And you might just long for the wrap up one of these days when it all just gets too tedious.
So without further delay: The Introduction
I had thought of starting to write about a year ago. Title “365 Days and counting down”. The problem is that day Zero is a moving target. Hence….
And then there was the idea that anybody would care enough to get the blow-by-blow for an entire year.
So now we are at 150 day and counting down, give or take. On the give side maybe 15. On the take side up to 60 days.
So what are we counting down to – you are dying to find out.
THE MOVE.
We are moving to Belize. (I’ll let you in on a little secret: The Blogin Dogs don’t actually know about this yet. I figure since I am the one doing all the planning and work, I get to call the shots. They will find out soon enough.)
For me it’s not the first move. Came from Germany to the U.S. about 30 years ago. From Wet & Cold to Hot & Dry. Now it’s time for Wet & Hot. I’ll skip trying the Cold & Dry.
In Germany they are industrious because its a way to stay warm. In the US they are industrious because the wolves of poverty will come howling otherwise. In Belize the industriousness is interspersed with enough down time to foster human interaction. Meaning – you stop a while and yack a while . You don’t need to keep warm, and poverty is in the eye of the beholder.
So of course moving myself, the Blogin Dogs (Carly, Odessa and Gudrun)(the rest edits from Higher Up), and some of our gear takes some doing. Was easier 30 years ago. Backpack. 20 pounds. Why, what else was I supposed to bring?
And of course it’s not just physically up and moving. There is the metal thing. I ask myself at regular intervals : “Are you NUTS???”
So far the considered answer has always been “no”. I hope I don’t change my mind say 2000 miles down the road or thereabouts.
Additionally I live in what I consider one of the most beautiful places on earth. The Granite Dells in Arizona. Much more on this later.
And yes, I will explain why I am moving in spite of the last statement.
That my friends will be the “Saying It”. The meat and potatoes. The blog.
And of course the Blogin Dogs will take over whenever they feel inclined. Remember – I’m just filling in when things get slow.
